I had a health scare. I had been in great shape for most of my life. I usually just ate the healthy food that I cooked for my clients, so that was easy enough. But, for some reason a year or so ago I started to get real intense pain in the heels of my feet. So much so that I had to wear walking boots to get around. It was extremely painful.👎
I couldn't work or get around much, certainly couldn't go to the gym anymore. Anyway, before I knew it, I had gained 75 pounds without even realizing it. Has that ever happened to you?
Time just slipped by and your like "what the heck just happened to my weight"? Well, I finally went to a foot specialist and after months of misdiagnosis I found out that I had Gout. Gout? Wasn't that the affliction of kings in 1700's from a rich diet?
Turns out it was hereditary as my dad had issues with this as well. Not only that, now with excess weight gain, my blood pressure and cholesterol had gone through the roof. That was my "aha" moment.👍 If we want to lose meaningful weight we all really need that "aha" moment.
So it scared the crap out of me and I finally had a game plan to fix my foot problems. I had cooked low-carb and Keto diet for years and saw the benefits first-hand. Only now the shoe was on the other foot (so to speak) and now I needed my own help!
Thankfully I went to work, and within just a few months I had dropped over 50 pounds!🙏 I am now working my little butt off again (currently cooking for clients in Italy as I write this).
